Call to Worship
Isaiah 53:3
53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
When we see Jesus, a Man of Sorrows and acquainted with grief, working to save the lost, slighted, scorned, derided, driven from city to city till His mission was accomplished; when we behold Him in Gethsemane, sweating great drops of blood, and on the cross dying in agony,—when we see this, self will no longer clamor to be recognized. {DA 439}
We can never come close to experiencing the same grief, spiritually, mentally, and physically, which Jesus received while here on earth. We must never forget what Our Lord and Savior went through on our behalf. So, while we are out evangelizing and witnessing to the world on behalf of our Great Redeemer, do it not for yourself, do it to glorify our Creator. The going will get tough, but we must press forward. Your efforts will not go by the wayside if you continue working to help save the lost. Empty yourself of self, serve the Lord, and He will bring your eternal reward with Him when we get to see Jesus face to face.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
We thank thee for giving us this opportunity to be of service to You in the great plan of salvation, which You have provided for all of Your children. We pray that You help us while working to save the many lost souls out there. Give us the strength and courage to press forward, even when it seems that the whole world despises You and Your Word, and esteems You not. We pray for all of those souls who have rejected You, that they may walk out of the darkness and into the light. We are sorry if we have hurt You through our sins, we repent of our sins, and pray for Your forgiveness. Save us, that one day we will get to see You face to face. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, and it’s in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
