Call to Worship

Matthew 22: 37-38

22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

It is just as much sin to violate the laws of our being as to break one of the Ten Commandments, for we cannot do either without breaking God’s law. We cannot love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength while we are loving our appetites, our tastes, a great deal better than we love the Lord. We are daily lessening our strength to glorify God, when He requires all our strength, all our mind. By our wrong habits we are lessening our hold on life, and yet professing to be Christ’s followers, preparing for the finishing touch of immortality. {2T 70.1}

If you love this world, you have not surrendered your life to Christ. It is by totally surrendering your life to Christ that you may be able to receive the reward of immortality. To put on immortality and the robe of righteousness is to give up your worldly habits and obey all of God’s Ten Commandments. If you profess being a follower of Christ, you are to love God more than anything this world offers. This is the first and great commandment. To be in this world but not of this world gives us the strength to glorify God, preparing us for the finishing touch of immortality. Heaven awaits those who love the Lord with all their heart, souls, and mind.

Our Father in heaven,

We come before You to give You thanksgiving, praise, and in prayer. We thank You for loving us the way You do. We love You with all our hearts, souls, and minds. There is nothing in this world that compares to You. We surrender our whole being to You and pray that You will continue to prepare us for an eternity with You in Your heavenly kingdom. We claim Your promise to us that You will prepare a place for us in heaven and that You will return for us. We thank You for this blessed hope to live our life by while here in this world. May all the glory be to You, and it is in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
