Chapter 7—The Lord’s Work to Be Maintained
The last years of probation are passing into eternity. The great day of the Lord is right upon us. Every energy we possess should now be used to arouse those dead in trespasses and sins.... {CS 35.1}
It is time that we gave heed to the teaching of the word of God. All His injunctions are given to do us good. He calls upon those who stand under the bloodstained banner of Prince Immanuel to give evidence that they realize their dependence on God and their accountability to Him, by returning to Him a certain portion of that which He entrusts to them. This money is to be used in advancing the work that must be done to fulfill the commission given by Christ to His disciples.... { CS 35.2}
God’s people are called to a work that requires money and consecration. The obligations resting upon us hold us responsible to work for God to the utmost of our ability. He calls for undivided service, for the entire devotion of heart, soul, mind, and strength. { CS 35.3}
There are only two places in the universe where we can place our treasures,—in God’s storehouse or in Satan’s; and all that is not devoted to God’s service is counted on Satan’s side, and goes to strengthen his cause. The Lord designs that the means entrusted to us shall be used in building up His kingdom. His goods are entrusted to His stewards that they may be carefully traded upon, and bring back a revenue to Him in the saving of souls. These souls in their turn will become stewards of trust, cooperating with Christ to further the interests of God’s cause. {CS 35.4}
With each passing day, we are one day closer to the return of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. There are no second chances, once probation closes, it is closed. We must surrender all and give our life to Christ today, because tomorrow may be too late. Jesus calls all Christians to do a work for Him that requires money and consecration. We are to devote our entire being to His work. The plan of salvation must reach all four corners of the world, and then shall the end come. Where shall you place your treasures, in God’s storehouse or in Satan’s? The answer should be quite clear. God has entrusted these means to us for the saving of souls. We have all been commissioned by Christ for His service. With each soul saved it will further God’s cause, bringing each saint one step closer to heaven.
Dear God,
We thank You for entrusting to us Your plan of salvation. We are merely stewards of all that belongs to You. We gladly give back Your portion, that it may go to the furtherance of Your
cause. We pray that these means will help in saving souls for Your heavenly kingdom and that it will hasten Your second advent. Please help us while we continue the work, and keep us faithful in our giving. Let our means continue to make it to Your storehouse and not that of Satan. We pray that You continue to bless us that we may be blessings unto those in need. We are sorry and repent of our sins and pray for Your forgiveness. This we pray, in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
