Job 42: 10
42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Pray for Those Who Hurt Us—
Let us strive to walk in the light as Christ is in the light. The Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed, not only for himself, but for those who were opposing him. When he felt earnestly desirous that the souls that had trespassed against him might be helped, he himself received help. Let us pray, not only for ourselves, but for those who have hurt us, and are continuing to hurt us. Pray, pray, especially in your mind. Give not the Lord rest; for His ears are open to hear sincere, importunate prayers, when the soul is humbled before Him (Letter 88, 1906). {3BC 1141.8}
When we take our mind off ourselves and focus on others, we will come to the realization that our problems are not as bad as we make them out to be. Praying for others, including those who have hurt us, brings us further into the light and closer to God. While we pray that God helps others, we receive help as well. Job received a double blessing for his trouble when he prayed for his friends, even though they were telling him to curse God. Pray for your friends as well as your enemies. God hears and answers humble and sincere prayers.
Dear kind and gracious Father,
We come before You in humble and importunate prayer on behalf of our friends, and even those who have hurt us. We know that You do not tire of hearing our prayers when we bring all our petitions before You. We pray for Your grace and mercy on those who do not believe in You and reject Your truths presented to them. We pray for Your Spirit to touch their hearts, minds, and souls, convict them of Your truths, that they can be saved. We pray that they return unto You, for You have redeemed them, and may they walk in Your light. We thank You and praise You, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
