Call to Worship

Jude 1: 9

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

The False Claims of Satan—

Satan, the rebel and apostate, works by every possible device to defeat the purpose of God. Because men have sinned, he claims that they have come under his dominion, and that the heavenly agencies, angels that excel in strength, should not take his subjects from under his control. Should men receive divine power, he knows that he cannot prevail against them, and work his will in cruelty upon body and mind; therefore he accuses them before God, and claims that the power of God shall not be imparted to them (The Review and Herald, June 20, 1893). {7BC 953.1}

Satan knows he has but a short time, so he is busier than ever. Satan’s goal is to separate God’s children from Him, and to hold them captive in the bondage of sin. However, if we keep our eyes fixed on Christ Jesus, Satan will not prevail. Satan tries to deceive God’s children into thinking that they cannot receive God’s power to overcome sin. However, if we rebuke Satan, as Jesus did, we will send Satan fleeing from us. When we call on Jesus, He sends His heavenly angels that excel in strength to send away the defeated foe. Remember; keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

Dear Lord,

We come to You in thanksgiving for all that You have done, and continue to do, for us. As we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against Satan, his demons, and all the people he works through, we pray for an “it is written”, that we may send Satan fleeing from us. We rebuke Satan and all he stands for, and we are thankful and eternally grateful for the Power You give us from on High. We thank You for giving us the strength and courage to overcome sin and for sending all of Your heavenly angels that excel in strength to help us in our battle with the adversary. We thank You for always watching over us and keeping us safe, in the name of Christ Jesus we pray. Amen.
