Psalms 107: 29-30
107:29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
107:30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
How often the disciples’ experience is ours! When the tempests of temptation gather, and the fierce lightnings flash, and the waves sweep over us, we battle with the storm alone, forgetting that there is One who can help us. We trust to our own strength till our hope is lost, and we are ready to perish. Then we remember Jesus, and if we call upon Him to save us, we shall not cry in vain. Though He sorrowfully reproves our unbelief and self-confidence, He never fails to give us the help we need. Whether on the land or on the sea, if we have the Saviour in our hearts, there is no need of fear. Living faith in the Redeemer will smooth the sea of life, and will deliver us from danger in the way that He knows to be best. {DA 336.3}
His mercies are new every day. Great is thy faithfulness. It is by having the faith of a mustard seed that we are able to move mountains. Thank God that we are not required to move mountains alone, rather, with the help of our redeemer are we able to overcome temptations in our life and call ourselves conquerors. God is always ready to provide the help we need. As followers of Christ, we are His disciples, and have the assurance that He will never leave us nor forsake us. This is His promise to us. So, there is no need to ever feel alone if we remember and call out to Jesus to save us. What a mighty God we serve.
Our kind and merciful God,
We thank You with all our hearts for giving us the blessed assurance that You will never leave us nor forsake us. We are faced with the evils and temptations of this world, but we know that by Your strength we shall overcome as conquerors. We pray that You will deliver us from danger in the way that You know to be best. We pray that You will calm the storm and still the waves. We pray that when we call, You will answer and we shall be saved. We repent of our sins and pray for forgiveness. Increase our faith, and help our unbelief. We thank You and praise You. Glory be to Your name, and it’s in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
