Call to Worship
1 Thessalonians 5:23
5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Clearing Away the Miasma of Sin—
Sanctification—how many understand its full meaning? The mind is befogged by sensual malaria. The thoughts need purifying. What might not men and women have been had they realized that the treatment of the body has everything to do with the vigor and purity of mind and heart. {7BC 909.7}
The true Christian obtains an experience which brings holiness. He is without a spot of guilt upon the conscience, or a taint of corruption upon the soul. The spirituality of the law of God, with its limiting principles, is brought into his life. The light of truth irradiates his understanding. A glow of perfect love for the Redeemer clears away the miasma which has interposed between his soul and God. The will of God has become his will, pure, elevated, refined, and sanctified. His countenance reveals the light of heaven. His body is a fit temple for the Holy Spirit. Holiness adorns his character. God can commune with him; for soul and body are in harmony with God (Letter 139, 1898). {7BC 909.8}
We need to overcome our sins, or our sins will overcome us. It is of the utmost importance for our salvation not to be complacent and call sin by its rightful name. There is no such thing as a little sin. If one minimizes sin, more sins will creep into their life. Compromise with sin and you will lose your salvation. The mind, soul, and body needs the purity and cleansing of the Holy Spirit to obtain sanctification. The truth must sanctify the whole person. Without sanctification, there is no glorification. How can we obtain it? You need peace, not as the world gives, but as only God can give. What can you do to obtain it? Your thoughts are impure and you do not feel worthy of God’s forgiveness. Surrender your will to God. Allow the Spirit into your heart, confess and repent of your sins. God’s grace and mercy are a free gift from heaven to those who just ask. Pray to be washed clean in the blood of Christ and to be cleansed from all unrighteousness. Pray to God for not your will, but to let His will be done. God loves you and has a plan for you. Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you.
Dear God,
We come into Your presence, to the foot of Your throne in thanksgiving, praise, and prayer. We thank You for being our God of peace that sanctifies us wholly. We pray that our whole body, spirit, mind, and soul be found blameless on Your great day to come. We pray that we are worthy of having our names written in Your Book of Life. Thank you for being our Savior and redeemer. Thank you for teaching us the way we should go to obtain vigor and purity of mind and heart. As Your followers, we pray to obtain an experience that brings holiness and harmony with You. We are sorry we have sinned against You. We are truly sorry and repent of our sins. We pray that You forgive us of our sins, the known and the unknown, from the beginning until now. We pray to be washed clean in Your blood and to be cleansed from all unrighteousness. Please help us to overcome all sin, as You also overcame, that we would sin no more. We pray to do what is right, favorable, and well pleasing in Your sight. We surrender our life to You and pray not to let our will, but let Thy will be done. We pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Let our body be a fit temple for the Holy Spirit. We pray to be without spot or blemish and pure of heart. We pray to receive Your light of truth that saves. We pray to reflect Your light unto those who are walking in darkness. Let them see You in us and that Your holiness adorns our character. Help us to help them not compromise with sin that they stay on the strait path that leads to Your heavenly kingdom. We pray to see You soon. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
