Hebrews 2:14

2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Satan Vanquished at the Cross-

—He [Christ] vanquished Satan in the same nature over which in Eden Satan obtained the victory. The enemy was overcome by Christ in His human nature. The power of the Saviour’s Godhead was hidden. He overcame in human nature, relying upon God for power (The Youth’s Instructor, April 25, 1901). {7BC 924.3}

We too may overcome Satan through the Power of Christ Jesus. Satan, and his demons, and all the people that he works through will stand by for the moment when you are most vulnerable to destroy, to tempt, to kick you while you are down. It is at these moments when you need to call on Jesus and give Satan an “It is written” to send Satan fleeing from you. Christ defeated Satan on the cross at Calvary, so it is against a defeated foe we battle. Satan may have the power of death, but Christ Jesus has the Power of life. We serve a mighty God. Whom will you serve? I pray it is Jesus.

Dear Father, our Almighty God,

We come to the foot of Your throne in thanksgiving and prayer. We thank You for giving us the victory over sin. We thank You for taking Satan on, and crushing his head at Calvary. We thank You for giving us an array of “It is written” to send Satan fleeing from us. We thank You for Your divinity taking on humanity so that we may learn of Your ways and walk in them. We thank You for the sacrifice You made for our sake. We thank You that we may call upon Your name, Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, and that You are always ready to answer our call for help. We thank You and praise You, and it is in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
