Dear Reader,
Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 2—Our Need Of Prayer Chapter 2—
Our Need Of Prayer Prayer Is a Duty—
Nothing tends more to promote health of body and of soul than does a spirit of gratitude and praise. It is a positive duty to resist melancholy, discontented thoughts and feelings—as much a duty as it is to pray.—(The Ministry of Healing, 251.) {Pr 23.3}
Prayer Most Needed When We Least Feel Like Praying—
When we feel the least inclined to commune with Jesus, let us pray the most. By so doing we shall break Satan’s snare, the clouds of darkness will disappear, and we shall realize the sweet presence of Jesus.—(Lift Him Up, 372.) {Pr 24.1}
It is such a tragedy that the teen-age suicide rate is the highest ever because these lost souls do not believe there is any purpose in life, so why continue to live. They are taught “the theory of evolution” in school and that humans “evolved” from monkeys. These teens believe they have no purpose in life. Without Christ Jesus in their life, they do not have any power to overcome the snares of Satan and the clouds of darkness. Prayer is their lifeline to Jesus, and Satan knows it. Satan, the great deceiver, promulgates his lies to keep God’s children separated from our Great Redeemer and Master Healer. Prayer is a duty, and it is our duty to deliver the plan of salvation to all who are ensnared by Satan’s lies. Let us lift up our brothers and sisters and all the children that they shall realize the sweet presence of Jesus.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
We thank You for giving us still another opportunity to come into Your presence in prayer. We come to You in gratitude and praise. Let the entire world rejoice as we lift up our prayers as a sweet savor. We are so grateful for Your healing powers that lift us up when we are feeling low. When Satan throws his fiery darts, we know that wherever we may be, or however low we may be feeling, You will be there for us. As we commune with You in prayer, we thank You for giving us the power to overcome Satan and his lies, removing the clouds of darkness. We thank You for reaching down to us with Your mighty hand of power to lift us up out of the pit and providing us Your guiding light. Help us dear Lord and anoint our eyes with eye salve that we may see. We pray that You heal our minds, souls, hearts, and bodies. You are the Master Healer. Heal us spiritually, mentally, and physically. Touch us with Your healing hand, speak Your healing words unto us, restore us and revive us that we are made whole. Please take the stony heart out of our flesh and give us a new heart of flesh. Create a clean heart in us, oh Lord, and renew a right spirit within us. Let this mind be in us, which is also in Christ Jesus. We thank You for giving us Your breath of life. Let us all treasure and value the life with which You have blessed us. We all have a calling in life, and that is to serve You with gladness. Let all pray the most when feeling low and least inclined to pray that they shall realize the sweet presence of Jesus. We thank You and praise You, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
