Dear Reader,

Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 5—God’s Promises Concerning Prayer

I saw that every prayer which is sent up in faith from an honest heart will be heard of God and answered, and the one that sent up the petition will have the blessing when he needs it most, and it will often exceed his expectations. Not a prayer of a true saint is lost if sent up in faith from an honest heart.—(Testimonies for the Church 1:121.) {Pr 47.1}

To pray as Nehemiah prayed in his hour of need is a resource at the command of the Christian under circumstances when other forms of prayer may be impossible. Toilers in the busy walks of life, crowded and almost overwhelmed with perplexity, can send up a petition to God for divine guidance. Travelers by sea and land, when threatened with some great danger, can thus commit themselves to Heaven’s protection. In times of sudden difficulty or peril the heart may send up its cry for help to One who has pledged Himself to come to the aid of His faithful, believing ones whenever they call upon Him. In every circumstance, under every condition, the soul weighed down with grief and care, or fiercely assailed by temptation, may find assurance, support, and succor in the unfailing love and power of a covenant-keeping God.—(Prophets and Kings, 631, 632.) {Pr 47.2}

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3. These words written by the prophet Jeremiah is a promise given by God to all who call on His name. It demonstrates God’s love for His children. Do not wait to send your petitions to God. God hears all cries for help and is always ready to answer. God is so ready to bless us with things so great we cannot even imagine. All things are possible through Christ to those who pray in faith from an honest heart. God promises to help believers when they call on Him. We have God’s assurance of this, and His promises are sure.

Our Father, which art in heaven,

We, Your children, come into Your presence, give You thanks, and praise for being so good to us. We sometimes face difficulties in our life and think we can get through them on our own. We sometimes think small thoughts without considering that You are there always, by our side, ready to answer our prayers in bigger and mightier ways, which we have not even imagined. We forget that we serve a mighty, all powerful, all knowing, and ever present God that hears and answers prayers. Praise be to You and glory be in Your name. Hallelujah! Thank You for all Your promises that are ready for every soul to claim. We pray that You help us spread the Good News to the rest of the world. Help us to reach those places where Your gospel is not known, or even prohibited by law, sometimes even unto death. We pray for Your mighty hand to lead us and guide us in the way we should go. We thank You for helping us when we face times of difficulties or danger as we call on You with our cries for help. Thank You for watching over us, protecting us, and keeping us safe. We pray for the continual outpouring of the Holy Spirit. May we abide in You and You in us. As the Psalmist says, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1. We thank You for being our refuge and fortress. No matter where we are, whatever circumstance or condition, we know we have Your assurance of Heaven’s protection. We thank You for all Your blessings when we need them the most. We are so grateful for the way You love Your children and for making us heirs to the Royal family. We thank You and praise You, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
