Call to Worship
1 Samuel 1: 9-10
1:9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.
1:10 And she [was] in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
Mighty Power in Prayer—
There is a mighty power in prayer. Our great adversary is constantly seeking to keep the troubled soul away from God. An appeal to heaven by the humblest saint is more to be dreaded by Satan than the decrees of cabinets or the mandates of Kings (The Signs of the Times, October 27, 1881). {2BC 1008.4}
There is power in prayer. God is always ready to answer our humble prayers in time of trouble. Sincere, fervent prayer draws us near to God and God near to us. Satan wants no part of us when we are in the presence of God. Our prayers send Satan fleeing. God desires for us to be in His presence; He tells us to pray without ceasing. God could do anything He desires with His time, but He would rather spend His time with us. Our heavenly Father calls all His children to Him, to be heirs of the Royal Family. Spend time in prayer and you will receive Power from on high.
Our Father, God almighty,
We come humbly to the foot of Your throne in thanksgiving and prayer. We thank You for the gift and privilege of prayer, our lifeline to Your heavenly throne. We pray, dear Lord, for Your continual presence in our life. We thank You for the Power You give us to resist the devil, and send him fleeing from us. We thank You for helping us through our trials. We are so grateful and privileged to be called Your children and heirs to the Royal Family. We send our appeals to You without ceasing that we may remain in Your presence. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
