Call to Worship

Proverbs 22: 11

22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] his friend.

It is not by arbitrary law or rule that the graces of character are developed. It is by dwelling in the atmosphere of the pure, the noble, the true. And wherever there is purity of heart and nobleness of character, it will be revealed in purity and nobleness of action and of speech. {Ed 237.4}

Birds of a feather flock together. This expression applies to both good and evil. If you spend time with Jesus, you will develop that character which is pure, noble, and true. But, if you are not spending time with Jesus, by default, you may be spending it with Satan, who will impute unto you evil and wickedness. So, it matters what you do with your time and who you spend it with, because this will determine who’s character you develop. Will you spend time with the King of Heaven or Satan, also known as the prince of this world. Satan will use you, abuse you, and then refuse you, whereas Jesus will be your friend to the end. He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] his friend.

Our Father,

We thank You for being our friend. For imparting unto us the human spirit, and pureness of heart. There are choices we can make, as You have given us free will. We thank You for allowing us to choose to spend time with You our friend. We thank You for allowing us to draw nigh unto You, that You may draw nigh unto us. We thank You for allowing us to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under Your shadow. We thank You for protecting us from the wicked when they rise up against us. We pray that You create a clean heart in us, Oh God. We are sorry and repent of our sins, and ask for Your forgiveness. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, and it’s in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
