Call to Worship
2 Corinthians 5:17
5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Great as is the shame and degradation through sin, even greater will be the honor and exaltation through redeeming love. To human beings striving for conformity to the divine image there is imparted an outlay of heaven’s treasure, an excellency of power, that will place them higher than even the angels who have never fallen. {COL 162.4}
Can you imagine, us human sinful mortals, being higher than the angels. This is the power that can be received from heaven above. Choosing and allowing Christ to be in you makes all the difference between the new and the old, between life and death. I want to be a new creature and leave the old man behind, to rise in the newness of life. What a priceless treasure given to us with love from Christ Jesus. Honor and exaltation is ours if we put our sinful life behind us. Give up your worthless earthly treasures and trade up to the heavenly treasure that awaits you in the New Jerusalem. What a wonderful and mighty God we serve.
Our Most kind and gracious Father,
We come to You in thanksgiving and prayer. We thank You for giving us another opportunity to confess and repent of our sins. To put away sin, so that the old us dies, that we may be born again to rise in the newness of life. It is Your gift to us, and we are eternally grateful. We pray for Your strength and Your helping us to overcome our sinful ways. We pray that we are able to take off our filthy rags and put on Your robe of righteousness. We thank You for giving us the tremendous honor that one day You will place us even higher than the angels who have never fallen. Keep us faithful and let us always hear Your voice. We thank You and praise You. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
