Stewardship

CS - Counsels on Stewardship (1940) Chapter 13— God’s Claim Upon Us

God requires no less of us than He required of His people anciently. His gifts to us are not less, but greater, than they were to Israel of old. His service requires, and ever will require, means. The great missionary work for the salvation of souls is to be carried forward. In the tithe, with gifts and offerings, God has made ample provision for this work. He intends that the ministry of the gospel shall be fully sustained. He claims the tithe as His own, and it should ever be regarded as a sacred reserve, to be placed in His treasury for the benefit of His cause, for the advancement of His work, for sending His messengers into “regions beyond,” even to the uttermost parts of the earth. {CS 71.3}

God requires no less of us today as He did in days past. His gifts are greater to us today than in ancient days. Therefore, our offerings returned to Him should be greater as well. We are required to return means to push forward the work of saving souls. There are more people throughout the world today, which requires more mission workers. God claims all our money as His own, and this money is to be used for the benefit of His cause. Unlike “independent pastors” who use God’s money for their own personal use, our return unto God is to be placed in His treasury for the advancement of His work. The gospel is to be preached to the four corners of the world, and then shall the end come.

Our kind and gracious Father,

We thank You for providing for all our needs. There are still people out there, all over the world that do not know You. We pray that as You provide for us, we can go out to the whole world with the good news of the everlasting gospel. We pray for the missionaries who are going forward with the work of salvation. We pray that souls throughout the world may be saved. We pray that the work may continue and that it may hasten Your second advent. We thank You for the privilege of being workers in carrying out Your plan. Keep us faithful in our giving and in the use of Your sacred reserve. In Christ Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
