Dear Reader,
Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 6—The Prayer Of Faith
God Longs to Do Great Things for Us—Our part is to pray and believe. Watch unto prayer. Watch, and co-operate with the prayer-hearing God. Bear in mind that “we are labourers together with God.” 1 Corinthians 3:9. Speak and act in harmony with your prayers. It will make an infinite difference with you whether trial shall prove your faith to be genuine, or show that your prayers are only a form. {Pr 53.1}
When perplexities arise, and difficulties confront you, look not for help to humanity. Trust all with God. The practice of telling our difficulties to others only makes us weak, and brings no strength to them. It lays upon them the burden of our spiritual infirmities, which they cannot relieve. We seek the strength of erring, finite man, when we might have the strength of the unerring, infinite God. {Pr 53.2}
You need not go to the ends of the earth for wisdom, for God is near. It is not the capabilities you now possess or ever will have that will give you success. It is that which the Lord can do for you. We need to have far less confidence in what man can do and far more confidence in what God can do for every believing soul. He longs to have you reach after Him by faith. He longs to have you expect great things from Him. He longs to give you understanding in temporal as well as in spiritual matters. He can sharpen the intellect. He can give tact and skill. Put your talents into the work, ask God for wisdom, and it will be given you.—(Christ’s Object Lessons, 146.) {Pr 53.3}
There is not anything in the world that God cannot do. We have finite minds and earthly thoughts, whereas God’s mind is infinite, without any earthly boundaries. We are not to come to God with our set limitations. We are to come to God expecting great things from Him, which is what He has told us to do. We are not to put our faith in man but all our faith in the God of heaven. Pray and believe and it will be given you. God is always right there for you, always ready to hear and answer your prayers. If you do your part, God will do His.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
We come into Your presence in thanksgiving and praise. We bring our petitions before Thee in the name of our great intercessor Christ Jesus. We have so many things to be thankful for and give You all the praise and glory. Without You, we would be as nothing in the cruel and dark world we live in. We thank You for giving us Your light, as before we were blind but now we see. Thank You for Your Spirit and truths to live by. For showing us and teaching us, the way to walk with You, as Enoch did before he was translated into heaven, to be with You forever and ever. We pray that You use us as Your vessels, fill us with oil, and let us impart the oil to those lost souls in the world. Let us reflect Your light unto this dark world so these lost souls will see as well, come out of the darkness and into the light. May we be Your disciples, indeed, that we would know the truth and be made free. You have told us to do our part, which is to pray and believe, and You will do Yours. We thank You for Your promise that You will hear and answer our prayers. For letting we know to ask and expect great things from You. Thank You for Your infinite love, which has no earthly boundaries. The only limits are those we impose ourselves through small and weak-minded thoughts. We pray to have this mind in us, which is in Christ Jesus. How great Thou art for longing to do great things for all Your children. We thank You for doing all those things for us that we cannot do for ourselves. We pray that You continue to help us do the work at hand, and have Your wisdom to do it. We thank and praise You, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
