Fruit in Our Hands

Genesis 1: 29

1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Fruit in Our Hands—

The Lord has given His life to the trees and vines of His creation. His word can increase or decrease the fruit of the land. If men would open their understanding to discern the relation between nature and nature’s God, faithful acknowledgments of the Creator’s power would be heard. Without the life of God, nature would die. His creative works are dependent on Him. He bestows life-giving properties on all that nature produces. We are to regard the trees laden with fruit as the gift of God, just as much as though He placed the fruit in our hands (Manuscript 114, 1899). {1BC 1081.4}

We serve a mighty God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1: 1-3. One of God’s gifts to us is the glorious nature that surrounds us. God blessed His children with an abundance of trees and vines, herb bearing seeds, and the fruit yielding seed. Scripture refers to food as meat in this context. God is in control of the fruit of the land; it is not the result of a man made theory. Men who close their hearts to God are not able to discern between nature and nature’s God. Yet all the evidence points to an intelligent designer, God almighty. Nature is dependent on God, without God, nature would die.

Our kind and gracious Father,

We come into Your presence in thanksgiving and praise for all the gifts You continually provide for us. You have blessed us with the glorious nature that surrounds us. We thank You for Your gift of placing in our hands the trees laden with fruit. Thank You for all of the life giving sustenance that is food for us. Thank You for making all things on which we are dependent. We praise You for being in control of the fruit of the land. We pray for those who do not believe on Your wonderful creation designed by You for the benefit of Your children, whom You love so much. Thanks be to You, our Almighty God, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
