Dear Reader,
2. Timothy 3:15
3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14, 15 (Acts 16:1-3). Timothy’s Childhood Training—
Timothy’s mother and grandmother were united in their efforts to train him for God. What was his lesson book? —the Bible. Paul, his father in the gospel, declares, “From a child thou hast known the holy scriptures.” The faith of the mother and grandmother in the oracles of God was a constant illustration to Timothy of the blessing of doing God’s will. {7BC 918.7} When Timothy was little more than a boy, Paul took him with him as his companion in labor. Those who had taught Timothy in his childhood were rewarded by seeing the son of their care linked in close fellowship with the great apostle (Manuscript 117a, 1901). {7BC 918.8} Paul loved Timothy because Timothy loved God.
We have beautiful children in our midst. Let us all pray for the children, as our children are the future. But we are all children, children of God. Our Father longs to bring all his children into the fold of His royal family. Though we may be at different stages in our walk with God, we are to nurture and train our children, as well as each other, in the way we should go
Our Father, which art in heaven,
We thank You with all our hearts for all the ways in which You love us. For giving us, Your children, Your Holy scriptures, that we may know in the way we should go. To make us wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. You have told us that if we humble ourselves as little children, that we will be greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And if we receive Your little children, we receiveth You. We pray that You will give us wisdom to bring up Your children and that none should offend any of Your little ones, lest we are drowned in the depth of the sea. Help us hide ourselves in Jesus, cover us with His righteousness. Help us sacrifice self- love and self-pride that You may use us in any position with which You require. Transform us from this world. You have promised us that You will be a Father unto us, and we shall be Your sons and daughters. Oh, what a privilege it is to claim this promise. We understand that we must do our part. We pray that You send Your Holy angels to help Your children that we shall be made strong through Christ Jesus who strengthens us. Help us in our battles against Satan, that we may use Your lesson book- The Bible, to send Satan and his legion fleeing from us. Help us use Your Bible to train the children in the Holy scriptures, that when they are old, they will not depart from it. It is a true blessing to do Your will. We pray that You will continue to pour out Your Holy Spirit on all of us, every family, every individual, and on all the children. Lead us and guide us that we may be earnest, and zealous, and persevering in the work. Bless us with the fruit of Your spirit. Increase our faith, help our unbelief. Help us through our trials that we may receive Your character. Save us and forgive us of our sins. We thank You for allowing us to be stewards of Your children. We praise You for everything You have done for us. We love You Father, we love You Jesus, we love You Holy Spirit. All these things we ask and pray, in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
