Titus 2:10

2:10 Not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

Adorning the Doctrine of Christ—

To adorn the doctrine of Christ our Saviour, we must have the same mind which was in Christ. Our likes and dislikes, our desire to favor self to the disadvantage of others must be overcome. Let the peace of God rule in your hearts. Christ must be in us a living, working power (Manuscript 39, 1896). {7BC 921.5}

The Book of Philippians says “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” If we adorn the doctrine of Christ, do as He would do, think as He thinks, we will obtain the light and not be left in darkness. “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” To walk in the light of Jesus is to walk in total selflessness with the peace of God in our hearts. When Christ came to earth, He could have taken any position in life. However, He chose the lowest and humblest lifestyle. He was poor and worked for a living as a carpenter. During His time here, He lived a life of continual self-denial and sacrifice. Christ knew what poverty was like. Had He chosen to be rich in goods, the poor, which were the majority of the people, would have shunned His company. Christ even compromised His stature, as He was taller than all the angels were, yet He chose to be but a little taller than the common size of men. Christ did not rely on outward appearance, rather His character. Christ hated sin, yet demonstrated compassion to the sinful. The people believed on Him, as His character was unfound before in any man. Christ Jesus was truly the Messiah they had so long waited for.

Dear Father, God Almighty,

We come into Your presence in thanksgiving, praise, and prayer. We thank You for being the light of the world. Thank You for giving us the privilege of knowing who You are. For allowing us to walk in Your light, lest we walk in darkness. You could have been anyone here on earth yet chose to live among the common people. To live among sinners, who need You as much as anyone else. Thank You for teaching us and having compassion and mercy on Your people. Thank You for forgiving us of our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. Thank You for taking off our filthy rags and putting on us Your White Robe of Righteousness. For blotting out our sins to not be remembered. We pray to be worthy of having our names written in Your Book of Life. To be amongst the saints taken up into heaven at Your second coming. You came the first time as a lamb but will return the second time as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Oh how we long for that day. We pray to be with You in heaven to walk the streets of gold. To be among the sheep and the lion. Before then, we pray to be like You and receive Your character and light. We pray for Your help to be overcomers and have the peace of God in our hearts. We pray to adorn Your doctrines in all things. We pray to let this mind be in us, which was also in Christ Jesus. To have the same likes and dislikes and have the same selfless nature as You. We pray for You to be in us as a living, working power. Help us not to rely on outward appearance, rather on Your character in us, which is Christ Jesus. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
