Stewardship

CS - Counsels on Stewardship (1940) Chapter 9- Empty the Heart of Selfishness

Let no one trifle with his responsibilities. If you are not trading upon dollars, but only upon cents, remember that the blessing of God rests upon unwearied diligence. He does not despise the day of small things. A wise use of the littles will bring a wonderful increase. One talent wisely used will bring two to God. Interest is expected in proportion to the entrusted capital. God accepts according to what a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. {CS 48.4}

God looked upon the two mites, which the impoverished widow gave, as having more value than of the dollars the wealthy give out of their abundance. God expects our return to be in proportion to that which He has entrusted to us. Even a little goes a long way. Remember that as humans we add whereas God multiplies exponentially. He is the God of miracles. Just like the two loafs and five fishes, God will turn the little into enough to provide for all, and then some. God has a thousand ways to provide for us of which we know not. We serve a mighty and awesome God.

Dear God,

We thank You for providing for all of our needs in abundance. We pray that we may continue to receive Your blessings from on High to labor and earn wages for our families. We pray that You will exponentially bless the portion we return to You that it will continue to further Your cause, and that even a little You will miraculously turn into a lot. We thank You for all of the ways You provide for us of which we know not. We pray that all will remain faithful in their giving that it may quicken Your second coming. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers. In the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
