Call to Worship
Exodus 15: 23-25
15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they [were] bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
15:24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
15:25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, [which] when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
A Balm for Every Wound—
When Moses presented before the Lord the sad difficulties of the children of Israel, He did not present some new remedy, but called their attention to that which was at hand; for there was a bush or shrub which He had created that was to be cast into the water to make the fountain sweet and pure. When this was done, the suffering people could drink of the water with safety and pleasure. God has provided a balm for every wound. There is a balm in Gilead, there is a physician there (Letter 65a, 1894). {1BC 1102.1}
Christ Jesus is the Master Healer. He only needs to touch you with His healing hand, or speak His healing words unto you, and you will be made whole. However, it is by faith that we are healed. Like the woman who touched the hem of His garment, His words to her were that by her faith she has been healed. The centurion who asked Christ to heal his servant told Christ that he was not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof, just speak Your words that he may be healed, and Jesus did just so. Christ told the centurion that He had not seen this kind of faith in Israel. God has provided us a balm for every wound, but it is by faith that we will be healed. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.
Dear God,
We thank You for providing us with all Your health laws and the natural remedies we need to be made whole. You are the Master Healer, is there not a balm in Gilead? We pray You heal us spiritually, mentally, and physically. We pray You touch us with Your healing hand, speak Your healing words unto us, restore us and revive us, keep us healthy and make us whole. We come to You in faith and trust to prove us. We do not murmur or complain when we are wounded, but look to You for healing. We pray for the healing Power that brings us peace and joy, the kind that only You can bring. Praise be to You and glory to Your name. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, and for giving us the victory over sin, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
