Dear Reader,
Books / Pr - Prayer (2002) / Chapter 6—The Prayer Of Faith
Asking in Faith Brings Rich Blessings—In the words we speak to the people and in the prayers we offer, God desires us to give unmistakable evidence that we have spiritual life. We do not enjoy the fullness of blessing which the Lord has prepared for us, because we do not ask in faith. If we would exercise faith in the word of the living God we should have the richest blessings. We dishonor God by our lack of faith; therefore we can not impart life to others by bearing a living, uplifting testimony. We cannot give that which we do not possess.—(Testimonies for the Church 6:63.) {Pr 58.2}
Ask in Faith; Then Receive—
There is strength to be obtained of God. He can help. He can give grace and heavenly wisdom. If you ask in faith, you will receive; but you must watch unto prayer. Watch, pray, work, should be your watchword.—(Testimonies for the Church 2:427.) {Pr 58.3}
We cannot see or touch faith. It can neither be bought nor sold. It comes from a deep desire to learn and know of God. It requires trust and obedience. It is not temporal, rather eternal. When we offer our prayers to God in faith, we receive rich and heavenly blessings. Lack of faith dishonors God. Watch and pray for God’s grace and heavenly wisdom. This is to be our testimony and what others see in us, a spiritual life of God in us and us in Him. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
We come to the foot of Your throne, in faith, thanksgiving, and praise. We are so thankful to be Your children and You our Father. We are eternally grateful that You have made us heirs to the Royal Family. It is our prayer that we can faithfully exemplify Your character and reflect Your light through us unto others who are living in darkness. May we impart to others the life, and not death, blessings and not cursing, by being the Christian You desire us to be. May all our prayers be in faith that we may honor and glorify Your name. We pray to receive the fullness of the richest heavenly blessings that You have prepared for us. Through our faith, we pray to give unmistakable evidence of our spiritual life. Let no brother or sister be lacking in faith. May watch, pray, and work become our watchwords as we continue our walk with You. By faith, we pray to receive strength, grace, and heavenly wisdom. We claim Your promise that if we ask in faith, we shall receive. Let everything we say and do, and everything our hands touch, be right, favorable and well pleasing in Your sight. We pray that we can testify to the whole world how good You have been to us. Let us bear a living and uplifting testimony. We pray for Your help as we go out into the field, work, and share the Good News of Your soon return to bring us home. We are but pilgrims in this world and thank You so much for keeping us on the strait path to the heavenly kingdom, the place where we would rather be. We pray for Your help in getting us ready for Your great day to come when we get to meet our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers, in the name of Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.
