Stewardship

CS - Counsels on Stewardship (1940) Chapter 9- Answering Christ’s Prayer for Unity

Never can the church reach the position that God desires it to reach until it is bound up in sympathy with its missionary workers. Never can the unity for which Christ prayed exist until spirituality is brought into missionary service, and until the church becomes an agency for the support of missions. The efforts of the missionaries will not accomplish what they should until the church members in the home field show, not only in word, but in deed, that they realize the obligation resting on them to give these missionaries their hearty support. {CS 47.2}

God calls for workers. Personal activity is needed. But conversion comes first; seeking for the salvation of others, next.—The Review and Herald, September 10, 1903. {CS 48.1}

We must work together and cooperate with God in the plan of salvation. However, we must first see our need for God before we can lead others to salvation. We are all wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. If we are to help others, we are to pray to God that He helps us. Our spiritual life is to become strong with daily exercise. Church members can then work in unity to support the missionary work desperately needed in these last days. God calls all church members to carry out or support the fieldwork to bring the everlasting gospel everywhere that all may have the opportunity to receive the plan of salvation, and then shall the end come.

Our kind and gracious Father,

We thank You for the privilege of being co- workers with You in the plan of salvation. We thank You for giving us the Word that we can live by. We thank You for all Your provisions. We pray that our church members will come together in unity to support the missionary work needed in our vineyard and throughout the world. May all the church members see their need and experience true heart conversion. May we receive the means necessary to carry out the plan of salvation, not only in our home fields, but also to support missionary service. Keep us faithful in our giving we pray, in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
