Acts 2:16-18
2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Joel 2:28-29
2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
A More Evident Fulfillment—
If this prophecy of Joel met a partial fulfillment in the days of the apostles, we are living in a time when it is to be even more evidently manifest to the people of God. He will so bestow His Spirit upon His people that they will become a light amid the moral darkness; and great light will be reflected in all parts of the world. O that our faith might be increased, that the Lord might work mightily with His people (Manuscript 49, 1908). {4BC 1175.2}
Our prayer in these last days needs to be that the Lord calls on us and does not pass us by. It is by constant and fervent prayer that we can hear God’s voice calling us into action. Repent of your sins and receive the anointing and outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that you may become a light in this dark world. It is not till this great light is reflected in all parts of the world that the end will come. Till then, we are commissioned to do a great and mighty work with the Lord. In these last days, whether you are male or female, son or daughter, young or old, God will pour out His spirit to be manifested on His people to prophesy, dream dreams and see visions. Glory be to God.
Our Father,
We thank You for the privilege of allowing us to come into Your presence. It is our prayer that You pour out a double portion of Your Holy Spirit upon us. Anoint our heads with oil, let our cup runneth over. Let us be the light that shines in this dark world. May we reflect Your character that others may see and walk in Your light. Grant us Your strength and courage. May our faith may be increased so that we are able to continue to do a mighty work with You in preparing Your people in these last days. Save us Lord, and forgive us of our sins. We thank You and praise You, in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
